Position: Summer Law Student at Legal Aid Ontario
Gain hands-on experience in family law with Legal Aid Ontario as a Summer Law Student. This full-time onsite role focuses on supporting unrepresented clients and assisting family law cases.
Legal Aid Ontario is looking for passionate law students to join our summer program. You will provide essential duty counsel services, assist with drafting legal documents, and manage client files from start to finish. This position will also give you the opportunity to observe courtroom presentations and learn from experienced lawyers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide duty counsel services in family court
• Draft applications, affidavits, and motions
• Conduct legal research and assist with clients
• Manage files and participate in client meetings
• Prepare case lists and observe courtroom presentations
Requirements:
• Enrolled in a recognized law school
• Commitment to social justice or public interest work
• Interest in family law and excellent communication skills
• Strong interpersonal abilities, including active listening
• Familiarity with Legal Aid Ontario’s mission
