Bedoya & Hussain Law Firm is seeking a workers’ compensation paralegal to join our growing New York workers’ compensation defense practice. Our team handles matters from initial intake through hearings, depositions, settlements, and ongoing claim management. We are looking for someone who wants to build a career in a growing legal practice and become a dependable part of a strong team.
The Role
This is a hands-on role supporting our workers’ compensation team with case management, hearing preparation, and deposition scheduling and clerking. You will help keep files organized, deadlines current, and matters moving forward.
The right candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing many moving pieces. This person should be interested in developing strong workers’ compensation and litigation-support skills while taking genuine ownership of their work.
What You’ll Do
- Manage New York workers’ compensation case files, calendars, hearing dates, and follow-up items.
- Prepare and organize correspondence, hearing materials, discovery, medical records, settlement documents, and other case-related materials.
- Coordinate depositions from start to finish, including scheduling parties and witnesses, confirming logistics, preparing materials, tracking transcripts, and following up on next steps.
- Support attorneys and the workers’ compensation team with hearing preparation, deposition preparation, and administrative follow-up.
- Track deadlines and keep case status current.
- Identify missing information, stalled work, and approaching deadlines before they become problems.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, carriers, claim professionals, opposing counsel, witnesses, court reporters, and the Workers’ Compensation Board.
What We’re Looking For
- One to two years of workers’ compensation, litigation, insurance defense, or comparable legal-support experience preferred.
- Experience with legal calendaring, case management, document organization, and professional client communication.
- Deposition scheduling or litigation-support experience preferred.
- Strong organization and genuine ownership of deadlines and follow-up.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
- Comfort working across a team and learning new systems and responsibilities.
- A desire to grow with the firm, rather than simply fill a seat.
