Senior Legal Officer Jobs in Delft, South Holland, Netherlands at Orbital Eye
Title: Senior Legal Officer
Company: Orbital Eye
Location: Delft, South Holland, Netherlands
Join Orbital Eye as Senior Legal Officer
At Orbital Eye, we help pipeline and grid operators protect critical infrastructure using satellite imagery, AI, and geospatial technology. Our COSMIC-EYE platform continuously monitors thousands of kilometers of critical infrastructure worldwide, helping operators identify potential threats before they become incidents. As critical infrastructure becomes increasingly important to society, we believe continuous visibility is becoming essential for safer, more reliable, and more sustainable operations.
Our COSMIC-EYE platform is the technology and market leader in our niche: Third-Party Interference (TPI) monitoring, with dozens of operational customers worldwide, detection accuracy above 95%, and more than 13 years of operational data.
Our team of around 40 people, representing 15 nationalities, is scaling toward 80+ across Europe and the US. As we grow, we are building the foundations of a mature organization, and that is where you come in.
Why This Role Matters
We operate from two offices, our headquarters in Delft and a US presence in New York, across multiple legal entities. Today, we are extending the same technology into new domains: monitoring electricity transmission grids, expanding into new geographies and sub-segments, and developing additional verticals through active R&D and proof-of-concept programs. Our Series A growth round is underway to accelerate this next phase.
You will not inherit a legal function but get the chance to design it and run it your way. The work is genuinely varied: one week you are negotiating a multi-year contract with a Tier-1 European utility, the next you are working through an investor’s due diligence list, the week after you are shaping our IP strategy for a new geography, and somewhere in between you are advising on a US commercial agreement. Decisions are made quickly, and your fingerprints will be on most of them.
As Orbital Eye scales, this role is intended to grow with it.
Your Role
As Senior Legal Officer you are the legal center of gravity at Orbital Eye. You report directly to the CFO and operate one level below the C-suite, partnering with the Management Team on the decisions that shape the company’s next phase: commercial deals with global critical infrastructure operators and adjacent verticals, our Series A round, IP strategy across multiple jurisdictions, and the legal foundations of an internationally operating group.
This is a hands-on role with a broad scope. Contract law is the center of the function, drafting and negotiating directly across the table from the legal departments of large corporate clients in Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia. You will collaborate with external counsel and specialist advisors where deeper jurisdictional expertise is needed.
What you will do
- Lead contract negotiations with major critical infrastructure operators worldwide, including framework agreements, NDAs, DPAs, and complex commercial terms, with sophisticated counterparties across multiple jurisdictions.
- Own the full commercial contracting cycle: customer agreements, partner and reseller contracts, supplier agreements, and SaaS terms.
- Support our Series A round and future financing rounds: SHA, SPA, term sheets, debt instruments, and investor due diligence.
- Support M&A activity from due diligence and SPA negotiations to post-merger integration.
- Drive IP strategy together with our trademark attorney and patent advisors: trademark portfolio across the EU, US, and other key jurisdictions, IP protection, and IP positioning for grant applications.
- Manage the corporate-legal foundation across our Dutch and US entities including governance, intercompany arrangements, and entity setup as we expand into new geographies.
- Build and maintain a pragmatic compliance framework: GDPR, regulatory compliance relevant to dual-use and international trade, anti-bribery, and information security policies.
- Advise the Management Team and the Board on corporate governance, employment law matters, and regulatory risk.
- Manage and coordinate external counsel across jurisdictions, ensuring quality output without losing speed or budget control.
What We’re Looking For
- 6–10 years of experience in contract law, gained in a top-tier law firm, in-house at a scaling tech company, or a combination of both.
- Demonstrated track record of negotiating complex commercial contracts directly with large corporate clients.
- Solid foundation in Dutch and EU law, combined with experience in US contract law or another international jurisdiction. Working knowledge of US contracting practice is a strong plus given our New York presence and growing US client base.
- Comfortable with the breadth of an in-house role: corporate, commercial, IP, data protection, and employment matters.
- Sharp judgment, commercial instinct, and the ability to make pragmatic calls under time pressure.
- A self-starter who enjoys building structure and is energized by ownership rather than process.
- Fluent in English; Fluent in Dutch.
