Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded law firm specialising in dental negligence claims, representing patients across England and Wales. As a Legal 500 recommended firm and market leader in its field, the firm has over 25 years of experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join their established Accounts team as a Legal Cashier.

The role will involve working within an experienced accounts department, with full training provided.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Legal Cashier, your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Recording and maintaining up-to-date ledger transactions relating to office accounts.
  • Preparing schedules of BACS payments, obtaining relevant authorisations, and uploading payments to Bankline.
  • Processing and paying disbursements.
  • Reconciling all bank statements relating to office and client accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Reconciling credit card statements monthly.
  • Maintaining and reconciling petty cash on a monthly basis.
  • Assisting the Accounts Manager with monthly management accounts and year-end accounts.
  • Supporting the processing of monies received into client accounts, ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required.

Person Spec:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Cashier or within an accounting environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills, including knowledge of software applications and online banking systems.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to learn new skills.
  • Well organised with a methodical approach to work.
  • Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
