Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant
Our client is a well-established and highly regarded law firm specialising in dental negligence claims, representing patients across England and Wales. As a Legal 500 recommended firm and market leader in its field, the firm has over 25 years of experience.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join their established Accounts team as a Legal Cashier.
The role will involve working within an experienced accounts department, with full training provided.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Legal Cashier, your day-to-day duties will include:
- Recording and maintaining up-to-date ledger transactions relating to office accounts.
- Preparing schedules of BACS payments, obtaining relevant authorisations, and uploading payments to Bankline.
- Processing and paying disbursements.
- Reconciling all bank statements relating to office and client accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Reconciling credit card statements monthly.
- Maintaining and reconciling petty cash on a monthly basis.
- Assisting the Accounts Manager with monthly management accounts and year-end accounts.
- Supporting the processing of monies received into client accounts, ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.
- Undertaking any other duties as required.
Person Spec:
- Previous experience as a Legal Cashier or within an accounting environment is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Good IT skills, including knowledge of software applications and online banking systems.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to learn new skills.
- Well organised with a methodical approach to work.
- Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
