All applicants for the Keene Police Department must:
• Be United States citizens
• Be high school graduates or possess a GED certificate
• Be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment
• College education and/or military experience are highly desirable.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Must successfully complete the New Hampshire Police Academy or otherwise receive New Hampshire full-time police certification.

B. Effects an arrest; forcibly if necessary; using handcuffs or other restraints; subdues resisting suspects using maneuvers/approved weapons and resorting to the use of hands; feet; and other approved weapons in self-defense.

C. Exercises independent judgment in determining when:

1. there is reasonable suspicion to detain;

2. probable cause exists to search and/or arrest; and

3. force may be used and to what degree.

D. Safely and effectively operates; during the day and night; a law enforcement vehicle through emergency situations involving speeds in excess of posted limits; in congested traffic; and on unsafe road conditions caused by factors such as fog; smoke; rain; ice; and snow.

E. Communicates effectively and coherently by having adequate hearing to understand normal conversations:
