We are conducting a confidential search for an established Baltimore-area law firm seeking a Litigation Attorney to join its growing practice.
The firm represents businesses, organizations, and individuals in a broad range of civil litigation matters. Attorneys at multiple experience levels will be considered. Approximately 5+ years of litigation experience is preferred, although candidates with less or significantly more experience are encouraged to apply.
This opportunity may be especially attractive to an attorney seeking greater responsibility, direct client interaction, and the ability to manage meaningful matters rather than serving as one small part of a large litigation team.
Matters May Include
- Business and commercial disputes
- Breach of contract claims
- Real estate and property-related litigation
- Construction disputes and mechanics’ lien matters
- Employment-related disputes
- Professional liability matters
- Creditors’ rights and collection matters
- Insurance coverage and defense matters
- Business torts and misrepresentation claims
- Mediation, arbitration, and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings
What You’ll Do
Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:
- Manage civil litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents
- Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written analyses
- Manage written discovery, document production, and case deadlines
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Develop litigation strategies and evaluate case risks
- Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Negotiate settlements and pursue practical resolutions when appropriate
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties
- Collaborate with attorneys across related practice areas
What We’re Looking For
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active Maryland Bar license
- Civil litigation experience
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Experience with discovery, motions, depositions, hearings, or trials appropriate to your level
- Strong client communication and relationship-management skills
- Sound judgment and a practical approach to dispute resolution
- Ability to manage matters and deadlines with appropriate independence
Attorneys at multiple experience levels will be considered. More experienced attorneys with established client relationships or a portable book of business are also encouraged to apply. This is also an excellent opportunity for sole practitioners or attorneys with small firms who want to focus on practicing law and serving clients while leaving the administrative and operational management of the practice to our client.
