The Opportunity – Compliance Officer / Money Laundering Reporting Officer (CO/MLRO)

After four years of platform development and regulatory growth, FinClub is entering an exciting new phase of expansion. As we scale our operations, products and regional footprint, we are looking for a Compliance Officer / Money Laundering Reporting Officer (CO/MLRO) to lead our compliance and financial crime framework.

Reporting directly to the Board, you will be responsible for ensuring the Company's continued compliance with all regulatory and AML/CFT obligations, while strengthening governance, risk management and regulatory engagement. You will oversee the compliance, AML/CFT and sanctions framework, ensuring that FinClub maintains the highest standards of integrity, transparency and regulatory excellence.

This is a hands-on role for a proactive compliance aspiring leader who combines sound regulatory judgement with a pragmatic, business-enabling approach in a fast-growing fintech environment.

 

Your Mandate

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will lead FinClub's compliance, regulatory and financial crime functions, ensuring the Company maintains the highest standards of governance, integrity and regulatory excellence while supporting sustainable business growth. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the Company's appointed Compliance Officer (CO) and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), and Data Protection Officer.
  • Lead and continuously enhance the Company's compliance, AML/CFT, governance and risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with FSC Rules, AML/CFT legislation, data privacy and protection requirements and all applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the FSC, FIU, BoM, DPO and other local and international regulatory authorities, coordinating licensing applications, approvals and statutory filings.
  • Oversee customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, financial crime investigations and suspicious transaction reporting.
  • Provide legal and regulatory guidance to management, business units and the recovery team.
  • Support the continued development and commercialisation of FinID, ensuring compliance-by-design and advising enterprise clients on digital identity, AML/CFT and fraud prevention solutions.
  • Prepare compliance reports for the Board and coordinate regulatory inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
  • Develop and deliver compliance, AML/CFT and governance training programs, promoting a strong culture of compliance across the organisation.
  • Support strategic initiatives and perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.

 

Experience & Skills that set you apart

Applicants should satisfy the Financial Services Commission's fit and proper requirements for appointment as Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

Candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Banking, Compliance, Risk Management, Business, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience in compliance, AML/CFT, financial crime, risk management or financial services.
  • Alternatively, at least three (3) years' relevant experience together with a recognised AML/CFT professional certification (such as ACAMS, ICA or FSI), or a minimum of ten (10) years' relevant industry experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the Financial Services Act 2007, FSC Rules, AML/CFT legislation, FIU requirements, Data Protection Act, corporate governance and regulatory frameworks applicable in Mauritius.
  • Excellent understanding of KYC, sanctions screening, customer risk assessment, suspicious transaction reporting and financial crime controls.
  • Knowledge of fintech, digital lending, digital onboarding and RegTech solutions would be a distinct advantage.
