Family Law Associate Position

This job requires a compassionate attorney with exceptional written and verbal communication skills who is committed to our firm’s mission. We offer work from home, hybrid work from office and home, or work from office options—however, you may need to personally appear in court in Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County. We are flexible with scheduling so you can make time for family and personal commitments, provided you bill a minimum of 30 hours per week. We mentor you and support your growth professionally by paying for your Continuing LegalEducation, bar dues, and networking events. We also provide for your malpractice insurance, workers compensation insurance, and expenses such as mileage and parking.   • Have experience working with children and be willing to train as Minor’s Counsel.

Expectations for Associate:

  • Assume 30-35 active family cases with supervision that involve dissolution of marriage, legal separation, parentage, child custody, spousal support, child support, attorney’s fees, high net worth clients and complex litigation, as well as prosecuting and defending restraining orders.
  • Interact with clients from the beginning to the end of the case so that the client feels attorney is responsive and compassionate to client’s needs.
  • Deliver a fast, written product, addressing the client’s concerns, that is persuasive without grammatical and spelling errors, including preparation of RFOs, Declarations, and Memoranda of Points and Authorities.
  • Able to propound and respond to discovery, including Declarations of Disclosure, Requests for Production, Form Interrogatories, Special Interrogatories, Requests for Admission, Subpoenas, and Depositions.
  • Basic understanding of financial documents, including tax returns, calculating support on XSpouse, completing Income and Expense Declarations; more advanced skills such as examining marital standard of living and business valuations is a plus.
  • Appear in court at least two times per week, mostly in Pomona Court, Pasadena Court, Stanley Mosk Court, and San Bernardino Superior Court.
  • Available during work hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., by phone and/or at office, available after hours for urgent matters only.
  • Meet deadlines, calendar court events, be timely and responsive to clients’ and co-workers’ communications.

*Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English, familiar with judicial council forms, Dissomaster, MS Office, and PDF reader/authoring software.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
