This is a senior position with responsibility for leading the commercial negotiation and project management of commercial aircraft and engine operating leases, sales and purchases.
You will work on the full variety of transactions originated by the company giving you exposure to all aspects of the transaction process from customer proposal to aircraft delivery.
Responsibilities
- Structure and negotiate contract documentation with airline customers, financiers, aircraft and engine manufacturers and other participants in the aviation finance industry
- Draft, negotiate and review the documentation of transactions ensuring that transaction documentation complies in all respects with internal approvals and policies of the company
- Work within cross-functional deal teams to structure product and transaction offerings on the full range of aviation transactions (operating leases, aircraft trading, financing, restructuring, lease novations, engine exchange and maintenance agreements)
- Provide structuring input and drafting on letters of intent and term sheets
- Ensure transactions are executed in line with deadlines
- Co-ordinate documentation and manage the negotiation and documentation process to ensure smooth and timely execution of transactions
- Manage transaction execution costs (including fees of tax, legal and other professional advisors)
- Manage litigation proceedings and/or any contractual disputes with customers
Required Experience & Skills:
- Formal legal training with at least 10 years post qualification experience working in the aviation department of a law firm or as in-house lawyer in an aircraft or engine leasing company or other commercial aviation investment business
- Qualified to practice law in Ireland or UK
- Experience working on aircraft leasing or financing transactions is essential
- Cross border and/or asset finance or banking experience is desired
- Ability to translate legal language and consequences to team and senior management
- Ability to travel to customers to complete negotiations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
