Description of Work

Reporting to the Special Operations Investigative Supervisor (Field Operations), this position serves as a member of the US Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force. The investigator coordinates federal and local resources for criminal investigation and warrant reduction operations within the designated area of responsibility (AOR).

Responsibilities

• Working with law enforcement partners to track, locate, and apprehend violent fugitives.
• Conducting research from available US Marshal Services (USMS) databases, surveillance, interview and interrogation of offenders.
• Developing investigations through use of confidential informants supervising a caseload of Community Supervision absconders that have absconded after being convicted and placed under supervision for violent crimes.
• Providing security for highly publicized court appearances and developing intelligence regarding threat groups to share with Community Supervision management and the Special Operations Intelligence Unit.

Required Abilities

• Perform rigorous physical agility, foot pursuits, building entry into potential hostile environments, apprehension of offenders who resist arrest, and long periods of stationary surveillance.
• Provide physical response including, but not limited to, foot pursuit, running, and jumping fences.
• Attend mandatory training and maintain mandatory certifications for full‑time employment as a certified officer with Community Supervision.
• Attend one‑week training with the US Marshals Service on an annual basis.
• Live within 50 miles of the duty station, defined as the actual travel distance over a road network.
• Pass federal background investigation for position in federal law enforcement.
