Title: US Lead Legal Counsel

Company: Heriot Brown In-House Legal Recruitment

Location: Atlanta, GA

Senior Legal Counsel – Atlanta

US FinTech | Atlanta, Georgia | High-Growth International Business

$170,000–$200,000 base, depending on experience, plus bonus and equity warrants.

I’m working with a leading global FinTech that is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel in Atlanta to play a key role in the continued expansion of its US business.

The company operates a fast-growing embedded finance platform, partnering with some of the world’s best-known technology and e-commerce businesses to provide funding solutions to SMEs.

The US is one of its most important growth markets and has been scaling rapidly, making this a genuinely exciting opportunity for a lawyer who wants real ownership, commercial exposure and the chance to help shape a growing US business.

The role

This will be a broad, commercially focused position covering the legal needs of the US business, including:

  • Advising senior stakeholders on US legal and regulatory matters
  • Supporting new products, partnerships and commercial initiatives
  • Drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
  • Advising on financial services and lending-related regulatory issues
  • Working closely with product, commercial, risk and compliance teams
  • Helping develop the legal framework and processes required to support continued US growth
  • Managing external counsel where required

This is not a narrow specialist role. You’ll be expected to get close to the business, understand the commercial objectives and provide practical solutions that enable growth.

Who we’re looking for

We’re particularly interested in speaking with US-qualified lawyers who have:

  • Strong training from a top-tier US law firm
  • Ideally 5+ years of post-qualification experience
  • Excellent commercial and transactional experience
  • Exposure to FinTech, financial services, lending, payments or another regulated environment
  • The confidence to operate autonomously and advise senior stakeholders
  • A commercial mindset and an interest in working within a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment

Candidates may currently be in private practice or already working in-house, but high-quality private practice training is important.

Why consider it?

This is a chance to join an established international FinTech while still getting the excitement and ownership that comes with building out a rapidly growing US operation.

You’ll have significant exposure to senior leadership, genuinely varied work and the opportunity to have a visible impact on the direction of the US business.

If this could be of interest, or if someone springs to mind who would be a particularly strong fit, please get in touch.
