They are seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal who is passionate about client service and wants to grow both personally and professionally within a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Position Overview
The Trusts & Estates Paralegal plays a central role in delivering high-quality legal services and an exceptional client experience. This position requires both technical proficiency and compassionate client interaction, as you will regularly assist individuals and families navigating estate planning and probate matters.
This is an in-office position offering the opportunity to work closely with attorneys and a collaborative team while contributing meaningfully to clients’ lives.
Key Responsibilities
Estate Planning
- Draft estate planning documents including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives
- Assist attorneys with sophisticated planning strategies, including LLCs, charitable planning, and family limited partnerships
- Guide clients through the trust funding process, including preparing transfer documents and coordinating asset retitling
- Maintain and organize client files with attention to accuracy and detail
Elder Law
- Assist in the preparation of Medicaid and Veterans asset protection plans
- Draft related documents and coordinate applications, including Employer Identification Numbers (EINs)
- Support clients and families through sensitive planning processes with professionalism and empathy
Estate & Trust Administration
- Assist with administration of trusts and estates, including asset identification, valuation, and distribution
- Prepare accountings for trustees and personal representatives
- Draft disclaimers and assist with funding of sub-trusts
- Communicate with financial institutions and beneficiaries as needed
Probate
- Handle all phases of probate administration from opening to closing
- Prepare and file pleadings, petitions, inventories, settlements, and court orders
- Coordinate with courts, clients, and third parties to ensure efficient case progression
- Track deadlines and maintain compliance with procedural requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in estate planning and probate
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of estate planning concepts, probate procedures, and fiduciary responsibilities
- Ability to draft legal documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience preparing fiduciary accountings preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience with WealthDocx and Clio is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, solution-focused approach
