Overview
A California workers’ compensation defense law firm, is seeking to hire a Managing Attorney for their San Francisco office. The individual will be responsible for ensuring quality representation of employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in the defense of workers’ compensation claims and will supervise a legal team that includes staff attorneys and legal assistants, while maintaining a caseload. Additional management responsibilities include but are not limited to client development, recruiting and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.
Duties
Provide legal counsel to clients on various matters including personal injury, estate planning, and workers’ compensation.
Conduct thorough research utilizing tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation.
Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
Draft legal documents including contracts, wills, and pleadings.
Represent clients in court proceedings and administrative hearings.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations, particularly tribal law regulations.
Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff within the law office to ensure comprehensive client representation.
Requirements
A current California Bar membership in good standing
Excellent research, communication, and organizational skills, with an ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
Strong Marketing and Business development experience
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all levels of the organization
Ability to lead and motivate the team to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and achieve goals
Previous management and leadership experience is a plus
Experience with MerusCase Management a plus
6+ years of Workman’s Compensation Defense
225 + billable hours
1 hour twenty minutes away from San Francisco max
Must have experience managing other attorneys and support staff.
Must reside within an hour from San Francisco.
