Role Description The Title Examiner is a full-time, on-site role based in Oak Brook. This role is responsible for reviewing public records, legal documents, and title reports to determine the status of property titles and identify any liens, encumbrances, or defects. Day-to-day tasks include conducting detailed title searches, analyzing chain of title, reviewing deeds and legal descriptions, and preparing clear, concise title opinions and reports for closing and underwriting. The Title Examiner collaborates with escrow officers, attorneys, and real estate professionals to resolve title issues, ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards, and support timely and accurate closings. The role also involves maintaining organized records, meeting strict deadlines, and providing courteous, professional service to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Ability to conduct thorough title searches and analyze chain of title to identify defects, liens, and encumbrances.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting deeds, legal descriptions, and related real estate documents.
  • Knowledge of title opinions and escrow processes, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate title reports.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a real estate or title environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to work with attorneys, lenders, and real estate professionals.
  • Proficiency with title and recording systems, office productivity software, and basic database tools.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple files, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, on-site setting.
  • Previous experience in title examination, title insurance, escrow, or real estate law preferred.
  • Relevant coursework or degree in real estate, paralegal studies, business, or a related field is beneficial.
