Position Overview:
Come join our team! A paralegal/legal administrator in a Chapter 13 Trustee’s Office assists the Trustee with the administration and oversight of Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code involves the restructuring and repayment of debts over time. This position involves reviewing bankruptcy filings, drafting documents, managing communications with debtor and creditor attorneys, and assisting the Trustee in ensuring compliance with the bankruptcy plan and court orders. The paralegal ensures that the Chapter 13 cases are processed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with the law. A paralegal certificate and book-keeping or accounting experience are preferred but not required.
The position offers the potential for advancement to a supervisory role, a flexible work schedule, casual dress code and generous benefits.
A higher starting salary is available based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Confirm cases in the Chapter 13 specialized software. Determine feasibility of cases using specified software and formulas. Review claims, correspondence, plans, and schedules of assigned cases.
2. Review and workup of case filed prior to First Meeting of Creditors for the trustee. Identify discrepancies for the trustee’s review.
3. Review and prepare files for confirmation hearings for the staff attorney and/or trustee.
4. Notify trustee or staff attorney if case negatively impacted due to changes in the current feasibility of plan.
5. Review and handle Modified plans for assigned cases.
6. Input claims to ensure disbursement of funds to creditors in assigned cases. Identify and generate objections to claims that are filed inaccurately
