Temporary Legal Operations Contractor (Document Governance & Contract Migration)
Duration: 3–6 months
Summary
Our client is seeking a Temporary Legal Operations Contractor to support a high-impact initiative focused on document governance and contract lifecycle visibility. In this role, you’ll design and implement a structured, centralized repository for company records, ensuring consistency, security, and long-term usability.
You’ll partner closely with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and IT/InfraSec to bring order to a fragmented document landscape, owning both the strategy (taxonomy, naming conventions, metadata) and execution (audit, migration, and consolidation).
What You’ll Do
- Design document governance: Establish taxonomy, naming conventions, and storage standards to support a scalable, single source of truth
- Audit & inventory records: Review systems (e.g., Drive, Box, DocuSign, Slack) to identify key documents, contracts, and gaps
- Lead migration efforts: Consolidate and migrate documents into a secure, standardized repository; deprecate legacy storage where appropriate
- Centralize contracts: Aggregate vendor and non-customer agreements into one accessible system
- Enable metadata-driven workflows: Standardize contract metadata to support renewals, reporting, and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- 3–7+ years in Legal Operations, Contract Operations, Records Management, or similar
- Experience auditing, organizing, and migrating documents across multiple systems
- Strong ability to design scalable taxonomy, naming conventions, and metadata frameworks
- High attention to detail and sound judgment with confidential materials
- Proven project ownership and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and IT
Bonus: Experience with tools like Zip, Tropic, DocuSign, Box, or Google Drive; familiarity with legal holds, diligence, or IPO readiness
