Title: Technical Lead (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia)
Company: MaridTech Company
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Technical Lead
Marid | Riyadh, Saudi Arabia | Full-Time
About the Role
Are you a senior engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical ownership and product delivery?
Marid is looking for a Technical Lead to join our team in Riyadh. You will take ownership of our technology platform, lead the engineering team, and ensure that technical decisions are made with quality, security, and long-term maintainability in mind.
This is a high-responsibility role that requires someone who is equally comfortable reviewing code, challenging architectural decisions, and communicating with business stakeholders. You will be the technical anchor of the organisation and the primary point of accountability for everything we build and ship.
About Marid
Marid is building the first AI-powered open banking credit card analysis platform in the GCC region. Our platform helps consumers and financial institutions gain deeper, more intelligent visibility into credit card usage, spending behaviour, and financial health, powered by open banking data and advanced analytics.
We operate at the forefront of Saudi Arabia's rapidly evolving open banking landscape, aligned with SAMA's Open Banking Framework and Vision 2030's financial sector transformation agenda.
Key Responsibilities
As our Technical Lead, you will:
• Own the technical direction of the Marid platform, ensuring architectural decisions are sound, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
• Lead and manage the engineering team, reviewing code, challenging technical decisions, and ensuring quality standards are met consistently.
• Drive knowledge consolidation and documentation to build robust internal technical capability.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal stakeholders, translating business requirements into clear engineering direction.
• Review and approve technical deliverables, including architecture designs, API specifications, and deployment plans.
• Identify technical risks early and drive mitigations before they become delivery or operational issues.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, documentation standards, and code quality processes.
• Lead the hiring of Marid's permanent engineering team over the coming months, helping define the roles needed and assessing candidates.
About You
We are looking for someone with genuine technical depth who has operated at a senior level and is comfortable owning outcomes rather than just executing tasks. You should be able to read a codebase critically, assess an architecture objectively, and lead an engineering team with confidence.
Essential Qualifications
• BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, API architecture, and data modelling.
• Experience leading or managing engineering teams, with a track record of maintaining high delivery and quality standards.
• Experience working with API-driven platforms and integration-heavy systems.
• Strong understanding of security, data privacy, and compliance requirements in financial or regulated environments.
• Ability to review and critically assess code, architecture, and technical documentation produced by others.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications
• MSc or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in fintech, open banking, or financial services technology.
• Familiarity with SAMA's Open Banking Framework or similar regulatory environments.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern DevOps practices.
• Arabic language skills.
What We Offer
• Competitive salary.
• 21 days paid annual leave plus Saudi public holidays.
• Comprehensive medical insurance for you and your dependents.
• End-of-service gratuity in accordance with Saudi Labour Law.
• Company laptop and technical tools.
• A high-impact role at the forefront of Saudi Arabia's open banking transformation.
Why Join Us
Marid is operating at the heart of a fundamental shift in how financial data is accessed, understood, and used across the GCC. As our Technical Lead, you will not be maintaining someone else's vision. You will be setting the technical standard for a platform that is genuinely new to this region. If you want a role where your decisions matter from day one, this is it.
