As our caseload grows, we are expanding our team of attorneys responsible for moving claimants from intake through hearing and appeal.
The Role
We are hiring a Social Security Disability Attorney to advocate for claimants at every stage of the administrative process, up to and including hearings before Administrative Law Judges and, where warranted, Appeals Council review. This is a client-facing advocacy role, not a support role. You will carry your own caseload, conduct claimant consultations, develop the evidentiary record, and represent clients directly at hearings.
This position is fully remote and open to candidates nationwide. You must be licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; because SSD practice before the SSA is federal and not tied to the claimant’s state, we welcome applicants from any state.
What You’ll Do
- Represent claimants at ALJ hearings and throughout the administrative appeals process, including Appeals Council review
- Conduct initial and pre-hearing consultations with prospective and retained clients, converting qualified leads into retained matters
- Develop and organize the medical and vocational evidence needed to win cases, working closely with case managers and intake staff
- Draft and submit briefs, appeals, and other filings through SSA’s Electronic Records Express
- Communicate proactively with clients to keep them informed, engaged, and confident in their representation
- Track deadlines and manage case status within our matter management system (DibCase)
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to maintain quality and consistency across the caseload
What We’re Looking For
- J.D. and active bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Prior experience representing claimants in Social Security disability matters, ideally including hearing-level advocacy is a plus (strong candidates from adjacent disability to include VA and LTD, benefits, or administrative-law backgrounds will also be considered)
- Strong working knowledge of SSA rules, procedures, and the five-step sequential evaluation is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the judgment to put anxious clients at ease
- Highly organized and self-directed, comfortable owning a caseload in a remote environment without close supervision
- Comfort with legal technology and a paperless, cloud-based workflow
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $70,000–$90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and geographic location.
