Position – Head of International Legal Affairs

Reporting To – Legal Director

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the company’s international legal affairs. To provide strategic legal support on commercial contracts, cross-border transactions, corporate advisory, and legal risk management, ensuring compliance, protecting the company’s interests, and enabling business growth through practical, commercially focused legal guidance.

Technical Skills

  1. Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills.
  2. Strong understanding of common law principles and international commercial contracting.
  3. Ability to independently lead complex commercial matters from instruction through execution.
  4. Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities with a practical, business-oriented approach.
  5. Experience handling multi-jurisdictional legal matters and coordinating external counsel.
  6. Excellent legal research and written communication skills.

Experience

  1. Qualified lawyer in England & Wales (or another comparable common law jurisdiction).
  2. 10+ years’ post-qualification experience.
  3. Previous experience with a leading international law firm and/or a multinational corporation.
  4. Strong background in commercial contracts, cross-border transactions, franchising, corporate advisory and strategic commercial matters.
  5. Experience managing external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
