We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading telecommunication clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join their team for a contract until the end of the year.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
You will offer first class general and specialist business and legal support as part of the Commercial Legal team on all aspects of its general commercial and technology contract work including working closely as a key business partner to the Central Procurement, Technology and Innovation teams. This maternity cover role has a particular focus on IT, networks and other technology related legal projects and contracts. You will play a meaningful role in the delivery of key initiatives across a broad range of matters.
The client has steadily grown in complexity and scope with the launch of many new products and services across the Group requiring ever increasing support from the legal team to advise on, draft and negotiate contracts in line with such support. The Senior Legal Counsel will work alongside other lawyers to ensure that such support is provided on a timely and efficient basis.
Reviewing, drafting and finalising contractual documentation (including NDAs, amendments, Statements of Work, purchase agreements and framework agreements)
Working in support of our stakeholders to provide legal advice and guidance on technology projects for the Group
Working in collaboration with the digital innovation teams on a number of Privacy related matters and other legal team projects
Managing the legal templates library
Analysis of applicable contractual terms and contract structure
Legal research and legal training for the wider business teams
Actively progressing legal aspects of commercial transactions and other allocated matters to a conclusion through efficient and effective planning and management to meet challenging demands
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Qualified lawyer with at experience gained in private practice and preferably industry
Experience of technology and/or telecoms sector and Gen AI law would be desirable.
Knowledge of commercial law (including intellectual property), and data privacy law.
Experience in reviewing and drafting standard legal documentation (NDAs, purchase agreements, SOWs, etc.).
Excellent academics (holder of at least one legal degree).
Strong communication and project management skills.
Team player and capable of working with different cultures.
Drafting skills, for expressing matters, contracts, reports, etc., in legal terms accurately, pragmatically and inventively.
Word and Powerpoint expertise.
Ability to manage upwards, keeping lawyers in the team informed about important issues, able to present clearly and precisely to stakeholders, enabling others to understand the key facts and issues.
Ability to seek feedback from the business, external partners or clients to ensure quality of service and work output is maintained to the highest standards.
Keen to share knowledge with the legal department as a whole, taking an active role in departmental educational opportunities, periodic departmental meetings and other initiatives.
Strong commercial acumen.
Be dynamic and proficient in handling multiple material matters at any one time.
Fluency in English.
