Beacon Legal has partnered with a global renewable energy developer in the search for a Senior Legal Counsel to join the Melbourne office. This opportunity would suit a lawyer with around 6-10 years’ experience who is looking to step into a broad and commercially significant role.
We’re seeking a commercially minded and proactive real estate and property lawyer to join a high-performing legal team. This role offers exposure to complex land access and tenure arrangements for large-scale renewable energy projects, including land leases and related property agreements, and the chance to work closely with a business operating at the forefront of the energy transition. You’ll be part of a collaborative and agile global legal function with a strong focus on mentoring and professional development.

About the role
- Lead, negotiate and review land access, option and lease agreements for renewable energy projects
- Advise on property, planning and land tenure issues across the full project lifecycle
- Support stakeholders across development teams on site acquisition and land strategy
- Manage external counsel and oversee property-related due diligence processes
- Assist with identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risks across land and project portfolios
- Contribute to broader commercial matters across construction, joint ventures and project development as required
What we’re looking for
- Admitted to practise in Australia (or another common law jurisdiction)
- 6-10 years’ experience in real estate/property law, with strong exposure to land leases and tenure arrangements, gained in private practice or in-house
- Experience advising on large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects will be highly regarded
- Strong technical, commercial and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach
- Excellent communication, drafting and problem-solving ability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
