Position Overview
Speakeasy Fitness is seeking an experienced Senior In-House Counsel to manage the company’s litigation, employment, liability, and broader business legal matters.
This is a hands-on position for a seasoned California attorney who can independently manage legal matters from initial claim through resolution. The primary focus will be premises/general liability and California employment law, with additional responsibility for commercial contracts, lease disputes, construction-related matters, and other corporate and business issues.
The ideal candidate is a strong civil litigator who is practical, responsive, organized, and comfortable advising senior management on significant legal and business matters.
The position requires an expected schedule of approximately 45 hours per week, with additional availability as necessary for trials, critical deadlines, and other time-sensitive legal matters.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage premises liability, personal injury, general liability, and employment matters from claim through resolution
· Handle litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
· Advise management on California employment law, legal exposure, risk, and litigation strategy
· Handle and advise on commercial contracts, lease disputes, construction-related matters, and other business legal issues
· Manage outside counsel when necessary
Qualifications
· Active member of the California Bar
· 8+ years of attorney experience with a strong civil litigation background
· Significant experience in premises/general liability and California employment law/litigation
· Experience independently managing litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, negotiations, and trial preparation
· Working knowledge of commercial contracts and general business law
· Commercial lease and/or construction litigation experience preferred
· Strong legal writing, communication, organization, and judgment
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an attorney who has spent significant time actually litigating cases, but who also has the range of experience and business judgment necessary to operate effectively as in-house counsel.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $200,000 per year
Full-time, in-person position based in Panorama City, California.
