We are looking for an experienced IM Safety Officer (Senior Specialist) to join our team at Kumba Mines, South Africa. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and effective management of safety data and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with MHSA (Act 29 of 1996) and OHS Act (Act 85 of 1993)
- Manage and maintain safety data systems and repositories
- Oversee incident reporting, analysis, and regulatory submissions
- Support risk management, audits, and compliance monitoring
- Implement data governance frameworks for safety information
- Collaborate with internal teams and regulatory authorities
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of South African Law & Safety Regulations
- Experience in Safety Systems, Compliance, and Risk Management
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in Health & Safety / Mining / Information Management
- Familiarity with MHSA, OHS Act, and regulatory reporting
- Strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12 (Mandatory)
- SA Law Certification (Mandatory)
- SAMTRAC or equivalent (Preferred)
- Degree/Diploma in OHS / Mining / Related field (Advantageous)
