About the Position
We are a small, busy law office seeking a dependable, professional, and organized Receptionist / Legal Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, is highly organized, and wants to develop their skills in a legal office. Prior law office experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person who demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

- Monitoring and responding to general office emails as appropriate
- Maintaining client files and organizing electronic and paper documents

- Assisting with billing, payments, and other basic office administrative tasks
- Maintaining confidentiality of client and firm information
- Assisting the attorney and paralegal with administrative and legal-support projects
- Helping maintain an organized and professional office environment
- Performing other duties as needed to support the day-to-day operation of the firm
As the employee gains experience, additional legal-assistant responsibilities may be assigned based on ability and interest.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional telephone and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities
- Dependability and consistent attendance
- Ability to work independently while also working well as part of a small team
- Good judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
- Comfortable computer skills and the ability to learn new software
- Experience with Microsoft Word, email, PDFs, scanning, and electronic document management
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Prior experience in a law office, professional office, customer service, or administrative position is preferred but not required.
What We Are Looking For
Because we are a small law office, every team member plays an important role. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities, notices what needs to be done, and is comfortable asking questions when they are unsure.
The right person will be someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, personable, and professional, and who takes pride in providing excellent service to clients.
Legal matters can be stressful for clients, so patience, empathy, discretion, and the ability to remain professional in difficult situations are especially important.
Opportunity for Growth
We are interested in finding someone who wants to become a long-term member of our team. The position provides an opportunity to learn more about legal procedures and law office operations and to take on increasing legal-assistant responsibilities as skills and experience develop.
