Position Title: Police Prosecutor

Reports To: Chief of Police or Designee
FLSA Status: Exempt (if applicable)
Position Summary
The Police Prosecutor is responsible for the preparation and prosecution of misdemeanor and violation-level offenses in the appropriate court. This position works closely with police officers, victims, defense counsel, and the court system to ensure cases are handled efficiently, ethically, and in accordance with New Hampshire law.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Prosecute misdemeanor and violation-level criminal offenses in circuit court.
· Review arrest reports, citations, and investigative materials.
· Prepare and present cases in court.
· Provide legal guidance to police officers.
· Meet with victims and witnesses.
· Ensure compliance with discovery obligations.
· Negotiate plea agreements.
· Maintain accurate case files.
· Coordinate with County Attorney’s Office.
· Stay current on changes in law.
· Attend training as required.

· Knowledge of NH criminal law and court procedures.

· High ethical standards.
Minimum Qualifications
· Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
· Admission to NH Bar or ability to obtain.
· Prior prosecutorial experience preferred.
· Valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in office and courtroom environments. May involve exposure to sensitive materials. Court attendance and after-hours preparation may be required.

Pay: $98,716.80 – $132,808.00 per year
