Job Summary
This role is critical to maximizing client recoveries and requires someone who is assertive, detail-oriented, persistent, and results-driven. The ideal candidate understands the importance of negotiation, deadlines, accuracy, and file ownership in a fast-paced personal injury law firm.
We are looking for a serious professional who can independently manage a high-volume caseload, pursue lien reductions, and ensure liens and reimbursement claims are properly resolved before disbursement.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of personal injury law firm experience required
- Prior experience with medical lien negotiation and settlement disbursements strongly preferred
- Knowledge of health insurance liens, reimbursement, and subrogation claims
- Familiarity with DHCS/Medi-Cal, CMS/Medicare, Medicare Advantage, ERISA, hospital liens, medical liens, and other governmental or private claims
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong Excel skills, including tracking balances, negotiations, reductions, and settlement allocations
- Ability to analyze medical bills, lien statements, settlement breakdowns, and reimbursement claims
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload, prioritize deadlines, and independently follow files through resolution
- Experience with Filevine is required
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of lien and reimbursement matters from initial review through final resolution
- Identify, track, and manage medical, health insurance, hospital, Medicare, Medi-Cal/DHCS, ERISA, attorney, and other liens or reimbursement claims
- Negotiate reductions with medical providers, hospitals, insurance carriers, health plans, and other lien holders to maximize client net recovery
- Obtain and verify final lien and reimbursement amounts before disbursement
- Review medical bills, lien statements, and supporting records to identify errors, duplicate charges, excessive charges, or other issues that may support a reduction
- Handle communications and negotiations with providers, lien representatives, insurance companies, government agencies, and other claim representatives
- Maintain accurate lien logs, negotiation trackers, and Excel spreadsheets
- Track offers, counteroffers, reductions, deadlines, follow-ups, and final agreements
- Review case files for potential undisclosed liens or reimbursement claims
- Work closely with attorneys, case managers, settlement, and accounting staff to resolve outstanding balances and avoid disbursement delays
- Document all negotiations, agreements, reductions, and communications in Filevine
- Assist with lien disputes and other issues that could delay settlement or disbursement
- Ensure lien and reimbursement matters are properly documented and resolved before client funds are distributed
Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
