Patent Search Analyst
The Webb Law Firm is seeking a full-time Patent Search Analyst, assisting with our growing intellectual property practice, which services clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups. Applicants should have a minimum of 5+ years of experience conducting focused prior art searches, with a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a STEM field. This position has the potential for in-person, hybrid or remote opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Conducting technical research related to patentability, validity, and/or clearance searches in a variety of technical fields using specialized databases or other platforms to identify prior art.
Prioritizing and meeting deadlines, following a docket.
Communicating effectively with Attorneys, Patent Agents and staff.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong technical understanding of invention disclosures.
Curate and analyze patents and non-patent literature and prepare comprehensive/detailed search reports.
Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail, placing a high value on quality.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience conducting focused prior art searches.
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a STEM field.
Ability to understand complex technical concepts and identify what differentiates one idea or product from another.
Understanding patent laws and regulations to ensure searching strategies align with legal standards.
Familiarity with major patent database hosts and search engines and using search logic.
Patent Examiners are encouraged to apply.
