The incumbent will be working directly with a team of in-house attorneys and paralegals as well as outside counsel and title companies; handling loan closings, post-closing deliverables, and repo/securitization financing of Multifamily CRE transactions
This role will sit 5 days per week in Long Island NY
Qualifications:
Experience with managing the review and audit of CRE loan due diligence items including Title, Survey, Organization Documents, and recordables (Mortgage, Assignment of Leases and Rents, UCC filings)
Transactional real estate experience is required (Banking/CRE/Warehouse/Securitization)
Understanding of CLO and structured finance Commercial Real Estate transactions highly preferred;
Candidates should ideally have 5+ years of experience in the space.
Senior level transactional legal assistants or CRE title professionals could be a possible fit as well
Experience handling multifamily or Fannie/Freddie/Agency backed transactions is a major plus. The incumbent will review and analyze closing due diligence items for all incoming transactions.
Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple transactions in a senior role for CMBS/CRE CLOs, warehouse financing and balance sheet lending;
Paralegal Certificate is a plus
Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
Responsibilities include:
Review and analyze closing due diligence items (i.e. organizational documents, management agreement, title commitment and title exceptions, laundry leases, commercial tenant leases, evidence of insurance, various third party reports, etc.)
Provide all closing due diligence items to outside counsel for review in a timely manner and work closely with them to ensure all rate lock and closing conditions are satisfactorily met in a timely manner.
Review and evaluate borrower comments to loan documents with outside counsel, recommend appropriate responses through credit risk analysis based on professional experience, knowledge and outside counsel recommendations
Clearly and immediately communicate problems/issues with a closing or deal, and elevate appropriately.
Provide back-up assistance to Team Leader, if applicable, Closing Manager and Delivery Team
Assist with special projects to improve the process and experience of our clients and business partners.
