The Law Department is comprised of nearly twenty-five attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. The Paralegal will work with attorneys and other legal support staff to provide a broad range of clerical, administrative, workflow, and project management duties to support Law and Compliance Division.
The responsibilities will include preparing documents, reports, and filings; completing filings; activities related to drafting, processing, updating and filing tariff and tariff related agreements; assistance with drafting and processing service agreements and other legal documents; promoting tariff and regulatory compliance; and supporting legal proceedings.
Position Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining the filing system for the Law Department.
Assist attorneys in the preparation and electronic filing of documents, reports, and filings.
Manage service and posting of filed documents.
Attend internal meetings as needed.
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Conduct research and analysis on legal and regulatory matters, prepare memos, reports, summaries, charts and other legal documents as directed.
Provide administrative support as needed to the Department.
Legal Document Review and Analysis Duties: (a) overall responsibility for the administration, processing and maintenance of Service Agreements including the tracking of effective and expiration dates, and coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders to maintain overall regulatory compliance; (b) review pro forma documents and agreements for conformity; and (c) prepare draft filings for legal counsel indicating reason for non-conformity, and oversee any service requirements for filing.
Governing Document and Filing Duties: (a) oversee company’s governing documents and tariff maintenance process and administer the eTariff database to grant levels of access to company personnel as needed; (b) track deadlines to accurately manage tariff documents with any and all pending updates and update designated personnel; (c) review filing documents for completeness in compliance with FERC regulations and standards, including the preparation of the filing package (i.e., transmittal letter, clean and redline tariff sheets, etc.) and load the documents into the eTariff system; (d) provide reports from the eTariff database or prepare ad hoc reports as requested; (e) assist attorneys with draft tariff language for new sections to the tariff or tariff documents; (f) closely monitor Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC) dockets for information regarding assignment of docket numbers and filings in pending dockets (i.e., comments, interventions, answers and orders); (g) review orders (in coordination with attorney as needed) to update the tariff in an accurate and timely manner; and (h) monitoring pending court and appellate matters.

Candidate Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as Paralegal; law clerk or legal assistant in a law firm, corporate legal department or governmental agency. Previous Energy industry experience preferred.
Experience managing and tracking a high volume of filings and deadlines
High level of comfortability with electronic filing systems, including external systems and homegrown technologies and tools.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
