StoneTurn is seeking a qualified Consultant to join our Forensic Technology (Lab) practice.
Job Summary
StoneTurn’s Forensic Technology (Lab) Practice assists attorneys and corporate clients with all information technology needs in forensic and litigation environments by utilizing state-of-the-art technology laboratories to stay ahead of the technology curve. Our national practice consists of certified computer forensic experts, including former “Big 4” specialists and strategic relationships with former law enforcement professionals. Our employees are skilled in obtaining and analyzing forensic images, restoring data obtained through forensic technology, performing in-house, third party and incident response investigations and assisting its clients in the electronic discovery (“eDiscovery”) process from the initial planning stage through data retrieval and production.
In this position, you will work in a state-of-the-art technology laboratory alongside a team of highly skilled forensic technology analysts in examining and interpreting data and forensic images, and assisting in third party investigations. In addition, you will apply financial, statistical, accounting and computer forensic knowledge in offering advice to both counsel and corporations. You will research, analyze, and report on artifacts and participate in eDiscovery investigations. This position also overlaps with the duties of other practices including cybersecurity, investigations, and litigation support where you will work with Managers and Partners to deliver coordinated services and aid with the planning and implementation of discoveries.
Responsibilities
Perform forensic data analysis in conjunction with highly sensitive corporate investigations and other matters including intellectual property theft, cybersecurity incidents, regulatory investigations, accounting fraud, and general litigation support
Analyze and implement the use of industry-standard practices applicable to the digital forensic field
Provide support for engagement managers who are overseeing the process from collection, extraction, processing, hosting, review and production
Utilize tools such as EnCase, Forensic Toolkit (FTK), X-Ways, Cellebrite Inseyets, Magnet AXIOM/Verakey, and Intella to process and analyze digital media
Interact with clients and other external sources to obtain relevant information and document findings
Follow proper evidence handling procedures including chain of custody documentation and device inventorying
Conduct keyword searches and metadata analysis to uncover relevant matter information
Foster a positive, efficient, and team-oriented environment
Integrate with other staff in StoneTurn’s Investigations and Cybersecurity practice to deliver coordinated services
Participate in professional development and business development activities to enhance forensic expertise and expand network
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity or related field
0-3 years of experience in forensic analysis, cybersecurity investigations, or data recovery
Strong understanding of Windows-based systems including installing, troubleshooting, and networking. Knowledge of macOS and iOS file systems is preferred
Strong technical background. Prior experience in helpdesk, systems administration, or other technical support is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical findings
Experience with various forms of electronic media (hard drives, tapes, optical media, etc.)
Experience with various cloud platforms, such as MS365, Microsoft Purview, OneDrive, Google Vault, or Slack is preferred
Experience with SQL and Python or similar scripting language is preferred
Flexibility and willingness to travel occasionally for client engagements (up to 30%)
Professional demeanor and excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting and presenting findings
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced investigative environment
Ability to track “billable hours” and make use of downtime for the betterment of the team
High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail in handling confidential information
Understand networking concepts and experience working with networked systems
Familiarity with data collection and preservation principles
Software qualifications as defined below:
Knowledge of forensic tools such as EnCase, X-Ways, Cellebrite Inseyets, AXIOM, Verakey and Intella is preferred
General networking and system concepts
General database concepts
Knowledge of mainstream operating systems and applications
