The Research Compliance Officer role within Institutional Compliance will serve as a subject matter expert on research compliance-related regulations, standards, processes, and policies. This position will coordinate with campus and institute partners in developing processes for new or existing regulations. This position will also support campuses in their assessment of new and emerging trends and mitigation of any associated risks. This role will support broader institutional compliance goals by monitoring regulatory changes and
providing guidance for applicability for the University.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Institutional Compliance – Research
Develop and implement research compliance policies and procedures
Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and university research regulations
Provide training and guidance to campuses and institutees on research compliance matters
Support the conduct of risk assessments to identify and address compliance issues
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote a culture of research compliance
Institutional Compliance – General
Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and university requirements
Support campus and institute compliance monitoring
Support institutional compliance communication efforts to promote a culture of compliance
Provide training and outreach opportunities for campus and institute partners
Institutional Compliance – Investigations
Support and conduct compliance investigations in accordance with university policies and procedures
Evaluate key risk indicators associated with investigations
A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Three years of research compliance and/or research administrative experience with exposure to federal research agency requirements is required.
Additional skills, experiences, and qualifications include:
Advanced knowledge and experience interpreting federal and state regulations.
Extensive knowledge of grants administration compliance, conflicts of interest, and regulated research processes
In-depth knowledge of uniform guidance requirements.
Ability to conduct investigative interviews.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree (JD or PhD).
Five or more years of research compliance and/or research administrative experience with exposure to federal research agency requirements. Advanced understanding of national laboratory research contract requirements. Proven experience (3+ years) in stakeholder education and training development.
Preferred skills, experiences, and qualifications include:
Advanced knowledge and experience interpreting federal and state regulations.

In-depth knowledge of uniform guidance requirements.
Ability to conduct investigative interviews.
