Mintzer Sarowitz Zeris & Willis PLLC has an immediate opening for a Civil Litigation Insurance Defense Paralegal with a minimum of 5 years of experience in New York Civil Litigation and Trial practice. Must be able to manage a high-volume docket with trial experience and maintain daily billable timekeeping. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and reliably with a busy caseload. You will work with friendly, collegial attorneys and staff in a family environment.
Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Drafting of pleadings, motions, and discovery.
- Preparing for depositions, meditation, and trial.
- Communicating with clients, claim specialists, and expert witnesses.
- Ordering medical records and preparing medical chronologies.
- Conducting research, investigating facts, and developing legal arguments.
- Case management and file organization.
- Summarizing witness testimony.
- Daily billable timekeeping
- Supporting up to 3 attorneys.
- E-filing of pleadings, motions, and service on all parties.
Paralegal Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or higher education.
- ABA-approved certification is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of third-party insurance defense experience.
- Minimum 5 years of trial experience/PA civil litigation experience.
- Minimum 5 years of trial experience/West Virginia civil litigation experience is a plus.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Multitasking capabilities.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality required.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and collaborate well with team members.
- Knowledge of Practice Master and NetDocuments is a plus
- Microsoft Office, Outlook Calendaring, and ECF Filing (State with Federal a plus)
