We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive support across a variety of legal practice areas, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient case management. <Duties>

  • Assist attorneys with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to gather pertinent case law, statutes, and regulations across diverse practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers’ compensation law, and personal injury law.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
  • Review and organize case files using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw; ensure all records are accurate, complete, and easily accessible.
  • Conduct thorough document review for litigation cases and assist in trial preparation by organizing evidence and exhibits.
  • Manage legal case files from inception through resolution by maintaining meticulous records of deadlines, filings, and correspondence.
  • Support attorneys with administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, coordinating meetings, and handling phone inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Perform data entry and filing duties accurately within various legal administrative systems to ensure compliance with firm policies.
  • Transcribe audio recordings or handwritten notes into formal documents while maintaining high accuracy standards.
  • Assist with client interviews by gathering relevant information efficiently while demonstrating excellent interviewing skills.
  • Support project management efforts by tracking case progress and deadlines across multiple practice areas such as landlord-tenant law or litigation cases.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times while adhering to ethical standards.

<Qualifications>

  • Proven paralegal experience or equivalent legal administrative experience in a fast-paced law office environment.
  • Strong knowledge of diverse practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers’ compensation law, personal injury law; familiarity with UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) law is a plus.
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis; experience with document management systems like iManage is highly desirable.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting clear legal documents and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to review documents critically and perform detailed proofreading and transcription tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Effective interviewing skills for client interactions and fact-finding processes.
  • Experience using legal case management software such as PCLaw or similar tools for billing and case tracking is preferred.
  • Knowledge of contract review and document review procedures within a busy litigation or transactional setting.
  • Exceptional clerical skills including data entry, filing systems management, phone etiquette, and administrative support functions.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies related to legal research or document management systems like Westlaw or iManage.
