Requirements:
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Portuguese.
- Prior experience in immigration law, particularly with the EB2 NIW visa.
- Work permit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft and assist with the preparation of EB-2 NIW petition cover letters and supporting legal documentation.
- Work closely with attorneys to develop, structure, and refine the petitioner’s Proposed Endeavor based on the client’s professional background, expertise, and intended activities in the United States.
- Analyze client credentials and supporting evidence to identify the strongest arguments for the EB-2 NIW petition.
- Assist attorneys in developing case strategies and organizing evidence in accordance with the applicable EB-2 NIW legal framework.
- Draft case summaries, statements, and other supporting materials for attorney review.
- Review client documentation for consistency, accuracy, and relevance to the petition strategy.
- Conduct research related to the petitioner’s field, industry, proposed endeavor, and its potential impact or national importance in the United States.
- Assist in preparing and assembling complete immigration petition packages for filing with USCIS.
- Maintain and organize electronic case files and document management systems.
- Communicate internally with attorneys, case managers, and legal staff regarding case progress, missing documentation, and drafting needs.
- Proofread and review legal documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, grammar, formatting, and overall quality.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive client and case information.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience as an immigration paralegal, legal assistant, petition writer, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience drafting EB-2 NIW petitions and Proposed Endeavors is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with EB-2 NIW requirements and USCIS adjudication standards.
- Excellent written English, particularly for professional and legal writing.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies in documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, PDF software, and case/document management systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and incorporate legal feedback and revisions into petition drafts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour
