Paralegal Jobs in Kansas City, MO at Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys
Senior Personal Injury Paralegal / Case Assistant
Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys | Kansas City, Missouri
Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys is seeking an exceptional, experienced Personal Injury Paralegal / Case Assistant to work directly with one of our senior trial attorneys on a diverse and unusually significant personal injury caseload.
This is a unique position.
Our ideal candidate understands both sides of a successful personal injury practice: developing and supporting sophisticated cases that may require substantial litigation, while also moving more straightforward pre-litigation cases efficiently toward excellent resolutions.
We are looking for someone who knows that great case management isn’t simply about doing excellent work. It is about doing the right amount of excellent work for the case in front of you… with urgency, judgment, organization and exceptional client care.
THE ROLE
You will work directly with a highly accomplished trial attorney handling a substantial caseload of personal injury matters ranging from relatively straightforward automobile cases to significant seven-figure injury claims requiring substantial litigation and potentially trial.
Some cases require deep investigation, experts, extensive discovery, depositions, mediation and trial preparation.
Others require disciplined execution: Develop the damages, complete treatment, obtain the records, identify the value, prepare an excellent demand, negotiate from strength and move the case to resolution without unnecessary delay or complexity.
Knowing the difference is critical.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Serve as the attorney’s primary case support professional across a diverse portfolio of personal injury matters.
Develop a strong working knowledge of every assigned case and continually identify the next action necessary to move it forward.
Drive pre-litigation cases efficiently through investigation, treatment, records collection, demand preparation, negotiation and resolution.
Maintain proactive, compassionate communication with clients and provide an exceptional client experience throughout the life of the case.
Obtain and organize medical records, bills, insurance information, investigative materials and other evidence.
Track treatment, damages, insurance coverage, liens and other critical case information.
Track treatment, damages, insurance coverage, liens and other critical case information.
Prepare case summaries, correspondence, demand packages and other legal documents.
Assist with pleadings, written discovery, document production, depositions, mediations and litigation preparation.
Work closely with our Litigation Manager and litigation team as matters progress into active litigation.
Assist with trial preparation when appropriate, including exhibits, witnesses, expert materials and trial organization.
Maintain impeccable calendars, deadlines, case-management records and electronic files.
Identify stalled cases and proactively create the next step rather than waiting for instructions.
Help ensure that significant cases receive the extraordinary attention they deserve while straightforward cases move efficiently toward maximum-value resolution.
Follow and continually improve firm systems designed to produce excellent results at scale.
TECHNOLOGY & AI
We are a technology-forward law firm.
We believe artificial intelligence and modern legal technology can dramatically improve both the quality and efficiency of personal injury practice when combined with experienced human judgment.
The person we hire should be curious, adaptable and enthusiastic about using technology.
Our expectation is not that AI replaces legal judgment, writing ability or human relationships. Quite the opposite.
We use technology to organize information, analyze records, identify issues, create strong first drafts, accelerate routine work and give our attorneys and staff more time for the judgment, strategy, advocacy and personal attention that actually require human beings.
For example, a straightforward demand should not consume the same resources as a complex catastrophic-injury case. Technology allows us to create an excellent first draft quickly, apply experienced human judgment, improve it and get it moving.
Candidates do not need to be AI experts. They do need to be eager to learn.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We want someone who understands that excellent and efficient are not mutually exclusive.
The exceptional candidate will be:
Highly experienced in personal injury case management.
Comfortable with both pre-litigation and litigation.
Capable of moving a meaningful volume of cases without allowing quality or client communication to suffer.
Able to distinguish between a case requiring substantial strategic investment and one requiring excellent, efficient execution.
Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
Able to maintain and organize voluminous records in complicated cases.
Proactive rather than task-dependent.
Comfortable taking ownership and identifying what needs to happen next.
An excellent written and verbal communicator.
Outstanding with clients.
Technologically capable and excited rather than threatened by innovation.
Comfortable working closely with an accomplished and experienced attorney.
Collaborative with attorneys, our Litigation Manager, the broader litigation and case-management teams, and the entire team.
Positive, kind, accountable and genuinely enjoyable to work with.
EXPERIENCE
Strong preference will be given to candidates with:
5+ years of personal injury experience.
Substantial experience managing pre-litigation personal injury cases from opening through resolution.
Meaningful litigation experience involving pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediation and trial preparation.
Experience supporting a litigation or trial attorney.
Experience managing a significant number of active matters simultaneously.
Familiarity with Missouri and Kansas personal injury practice.
Strong case-management software and Microsoft Office skills.
Experience with modern legal technology and AI tools is required.
Spanish-English bilingual ability is a plus, but not required.
WHO WILL THRIVE HERE
Someone who loves getting things done.
Someone who can help develop an important litigation strategy and then immediately turn around and move three straightforward cases another step toward resolution.
Someone who understands that every case matters, but every case does not require the same process.
Someone who takes pride in seeing cases move.
Someone who cares deeply about clients.
And someone who wants to work alongside an exceptional trial attorney while helping build the next generation of a rapidly growing personal injury practice.
Our culture is built around two commitments:
Extreme Client Delight.
Extreme Employee Delight.
We work hard. We move quickly. We embrace innovation. We care about one another. And we are building something exceptional together.
