As a dedicated lawyer in the Legal Services Branch, you will report to the Legal Supervisor for Municipal Services and Enforcement. Your expertise in public sector law and commitment to community impact will be vital as you draft legal instruments, conduct legal research, and present reports to City Council. This is a temporary full-time position offering the chance to influence the city’s legal landscape through proactive legal counsel and enforcement advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth legal research and apply complex principles

• Gather information through discussions and document reviews

• Draft bylaws, legal agreements, and authoritative opinions

• Prepare and present reports to Council Committees

• Identify and manage potential legal risks proactively

Requirements:

• LL.B or J.D degree completion

• Membership or ability to join Law Society of Alberta

• Minimum 1 year post-articles legal practice

• Experience in enforcement and regulatory law

• Understanding of municipal law and safety codes
