Job Description:
The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more.

The Douglas County Court is taking applications for a full time Records Clerk/Cashier position in our Civil Division. This is an entry level clerical position. One of the major and significant job duties is data entry from various legal documents. In addition, work involves a variety of general office duties which include responding to routine inquiries, typing and computer functions under the supervision of the Division Manager of the Civil Division. The Civil Division is a separate and distinct Division within Douglas County Court, outside of Criminal/Traffic and Probate, working with Small Claims and other Civil court actions. Supplementary duties include assisting people attending court and helping them locate appropriate window to complete their respective actions. Data entry and attention to detail is paramount. Additional details of the positions are outlined below.

JOB DUTIES:
Provides customer service to internal and external customers, which includes answering phones and greeting walk-in visitors, responding to requests for information from staff and/or the general public; answering routine questions.
Performs clerical tasks, which includes collecting fees, fines and other payments; receiving, processing, sorting, filing, and/or distributing a variety of correspondence, materials, billings, payments, deliveries, mail, and/drop paperwork and other applicable documents.
Enters information into applicable court databases and/or other computerized systems to collect and maintain court records and information in assigned area of responsibility and process court motions.
Prepares, records, and/or maintains information, to include verifying files and information for accuracy and ensuring appropriate corrections.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent plus two years of experience in an office setting. Higher education may be substituted for work experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: The ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required. At least one year of court/law office experience or experience in processing and/or accounting for cash payments.
Other: Successful completion of “on the job training” in JUSTICE (the statewide computer system) will be required within six months of hire.
All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Physical Requirements: Positions in this class work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required, not to exceed 20 LBS.
