Job Title: Full-time Senior Staff Attorney (HYBRID)
Reports to: Legal Director

Salary: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year (based on experience)

It is the leading organization in the United States studying and analyzing statutes of limitations for child sexual abuse, a global leader on issues related to online sexual exploitation and abuse, and at the forefront of making child sex abuse prevention feasible and affordable. It is also highly regarded for its expertise on the intersection of constitutional principles and children’s rights.
DESCRIPTION: CHILD USA is seeking a highly skilled and personable Senior Staff Attorney to join its Legal Department. This pivotal role requires a motivated individual who excels in legal research, writing, and analysis, public speaking, and enjoys working on complex and novel legal issues. Prior experience in policy, advocacy, or nonprofit leadership highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate the submission of high-quality amicus briefs, including researching, drafting, and liaising with attorneys and sign-on partners.
Research and draft annual reports, journal articles, blog posts, advocacy collateral, and other legal documents based on need and capacity.
Actively engage and provide legal support and guidance to various stakeholders in the child protection arena including lawmakers, attorneys, and members of the press.
Track and analyze state and federal bills related to CHILD USA’s mission.
Draft policy analyses, model legislation, and other policies designed to effect change by state and federal lawmakers.
Provide oral and written testimony at the state and federal levels.
Represent the Legal Department at various conferences, public events, and CLEs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with law review or other journal experience strongly preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant legal experience
Successfully passed the bar of any state
Ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Exceptional research and writing skills
Excellent public speaking skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences, including lawmakers and top legal professionals.
Experience in representing organizations in public, legislative, and academic settings preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to think creatively to solve complex and novel legal issues
Ability to approach sensitive issues with empathy and under the highest ethical standards
