Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Litigation Assistant to support a fast-paced legal team during Pacific Time business hours. This role involves task tracking, document support, deadline management, and ongoing coordination with attorneys and paralegals to ensure litigation workflows remain on schedule and compliant with firm standards.

Must be able to commute to one of the following Office Locations*:

Ann Arbor

Detroit

Grand Rapids

Lansing

Saginaw

Troy

Must be able to support PST hours, Monday through Friday; 10:30 am to 6:30 pm PST (12:30 to 8:30 CST)

Key Responsibilities

Task & Workflow Support

Track and follow up on assigned litigation tasks to ensure timely completion

Monitor legal support workloads and adjust priorities as needed

Maintain daily communication with attorneys and support staff regarding task status and deadlines

Coordinate with teams to ensure that tasks are accurately delegated and completed within scope

Document & Case Support

Assist with document preparation, editing, formatting, and e-filing

Organize and maintain case files and litigation documents in accordance with firm protocols

Support new matter intake, calendaring, and legal hold processes

Conduct basic records review and compile supporting materials for pleadings or motions

Communication & Collaboration

Serve as a point of contact for task updates and progress reporting

Ensure smooth collaboration between attorneys, paralegals, and administrative teams

Escalate delays or potential bottlenecks before they affect deadlines

Coordinate across time zones when needed to support distributed teams

Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure all documents meet formatting, procedural, and confidentiality standards

Review outgoing filings and correspondence for accuracy

Follow internal best practices for task tracking, version control, and documentation

Qualifications & Requirements

5+ years minimum Litigation Support Experience

Strong skills in document revision, docketing, and e-filing

Solid understanding of legal procedures, terminology, and litigation document workflows

Experience supporting attorneys in high-volume caseloads and deadline-driven environments

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat

Familiarity with Bighand, legal task management systems, or workflow tracking tools a plus

Excellent time management and multitasking skills

Strong attention to detail and proactive communication style
