Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Litigation Attorney role based in Cape Town. The Litigation Attorney will manage a portfolio of cases, including legal research, drafting and filing motions, and preparing pleadings and other court documents. Day-to-day responsibilities include appearing in court, handling trials and hearings, conducting and defending depositions, and advising clients on litigation strategy and risk. The role also involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining accurate case files, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law, with knowledge of civil and commercial litigation principles and procedures.
- Experience drafting and arguing Motions and other substantive legal documents before Courts.
- Hands-on experience with Courts and Trials, including case preparation, witness examination, and advocacy.
- Proficiency in conducting Depositions, managing discovery, and analyzing evidence.
- LLB or equivalent law degree and admission to practice as an Attorney in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and client relationship management abilities.
- Ability to work independently on-site in Bryanston, manage multiple matters, and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Prior experience in litigation at a law firm or in-house legal department is highly beneficial.
