Role Description The Lien Negotiator will support a personal injury law firm by managing and negotiating medical and insurance liens on settled or pending cases. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing case files and lien documentation, analyzing balances and terms, and preparing negotiation strategies to reduce lien amounts in line with firm policies and client interests. The role involves communicating with medical providers, insurance companies, and third-party lien holders via phone, email, and written correspondence, and documenting all negotiations and agreements in the firm’s case management system. The Lien Negotiator will coordinate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal support staff to ensure accurate case updates, timely resolution of liens, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This is a full-time, remote role that requires consistent availability during agreed working hours and adherence to performance and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications

  • Experience in lien negotiation, collections, billing, or related financial/legal support work, preferably within a personal injury or healthcare setting.
  • Strong analytical and research skills for reviewing medical bills, insurance statements, and legal documents, and identifying opportunities for lien reduction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional negotiation with providers, insurers, and other lien holders, and for clear documentation.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and proficiency with case management software, spreadsheets, and standard office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Understanding of basic personal injury, insurance, and medical billing concepts; direct law firm experience is an advantage.
  • Comfortable making outbound calls, handling difficult conversations, and advocating firmly yet respectfully for clients’ financial interests.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Legal Studies, Business, Finance, or similar) preferred but not required, depending on experience.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, ethical standards, and compliance with applicable laws and firm policies.
