Key Objective
A key member for providing legal and policy support to the various departments in the Consumers’ Association of Singapore (CASE) and working with various authorities and other bodies, to contribute to initiatives that promote a fair and consumer-friendly Singapore.
This role aligns with the Manager grade within the organisation.
Core Responsibilities
Legal and consumer protection support
Provide legal and policy support to CASE’s departments, which includes:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiation of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents;
- Reviewing of consumer disputes and providing guidance in accordance with the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act [CPFTA];
- Engaging with businesses and external agencies on the resolution of consumer disputes; and
- Supporting matters relating to Data Protection and Consumer Education matters.
Secretariat and Governance support
Provide secretariat support for CASE’s Consumer Law Review Committee which includes:
- Preparing papers and coordinating approvals for matters relating to engagement with businesses and legal-related matters;
- Responding to public consultations on consumer-related matters.
Designated data protection officer for CASE
Serving as designated Data Protection Officer for CASE, supporting CASE's data protection compliance efforts
Projects and initiatives
Support and/or participate in CASE projects, research, and initiatives related to core responsibilities or assigned by the Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A recognised tertiary degree in law from a reputable university.
- Relevant work experience in legal, data protection, compliance, policy, dispute resolution, regulatory or related functions will be an advantage
- Self-motivated with strong analytical and writing skills.
- Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Keen interest in current affairs, and in tune with the prevailing consumer trends.
- Flexible work arrangements may be considered.
