The Role

We are currently looking for a self-driven junior legal manager who has expertise in and a passion for TMT industry to serve as a trusted legal and compliance business partner, providing practical, business-oriented legal solutions while effectively balancing commercial objectives, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance, coordinate and work closely with cross-region and cross-function stakeholders throughout the company (affiliate companies and its major telecom customer & business partner) -from data protection, procurement, network construction, maintenance, product, marketing, finance, HR, to ops, PR and corporate governance-on all matters that affect the company in the region, with an eye towards how they impact the company globally.

• Advise on regional legal, regulatory and compliance matters concerning all products and business, while maintaining priorities of cross-regional and inter-company matters.

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, internal reports, policies, regulatory filings, and other legal documentation.

• Support the administration and continuous improvement of legal management systems, processes, and tools, and enhance legal service delivery through effective templates, workflows, and operational practices.

• Work with other departments to ensure consistent standards and best practices on compliance projects are met.

• Perform other legal and compliance-related duties as assigned by management.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Law from a reputable university,holder of a valid legal professional qualification or license recognized in a common law or civil law jurisdiction.

• 2–5 years of post-qualification experience with a leading local or international law firm, or in-house legal experience with a reputable telecommunications, technology, or internet company.Solid professional background in TMT and regulatory compliance matters.

• With solid regulatory advisory background and overall broad legal knowledge covering data privacy, telecom, corporate law, commercial transactions, intellectual property, labor/employment law, etc.

• Proven track records of taking initiative and ownership of matters and result driven with good sense of balance business need and compliance and risk control;

• Ability to drive issues to a quick resolution that factors in many non-legal variables, such as brand-risk, communications, government relations, employment, tax, insurance, finance;

• Ability to proactively anticipating issues or risks, particularly in a fast-paced setting, and assist to build the processes and systems to prevent them from occurring;

• Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical, business-friendly advice to internal clients;

• First class interpersonal and communication skills and executive presence;

• High degree of professional ethics and integrity;

• Fluent in Mandarin and English (verbal and drafting),with the ability to draft legal documents and communicate effectively in both languages.

*This position is based in BGC, Metro Manila, Philippines, and requires regular on-site work during standard working days.

The employment contract will be signed with FutureNet and Technology Corp, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Telecom in the Philippines.
