About the Role
Provide legal support to Midea’s growing operations, including manufacturing and sales in Indonesia.
Provide legal support for daily legal matters, projects and initiatives on a broad range of issues including corporate transactions, employment, foreign direct investment matters, general corporate matters, regulatory compliance and risk management.
Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of contracts.
Manage disputes with external lawyers
Support for investigations and audits (internal & external) where relevant to the Legal function.
Collaborate with the subject matter experts (SMEs) in HQ to manage disputes, compliance, IP matters, etc.
Supervise and mentor juniors and oversee their professional development
Requirements
Law degree and license to practice law in Indonesia.
5-10 years’ working experience as a lawyer or an in-house counsel, or a combination thereof.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in the manufacturing industry and handling complex employment issues.
Business acumen, with the ability to balance commercial and legal considerations to deliver commercial solutions.
Proven ability to handle complex legal issues and provide sound legal advice and judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Professional proficiency in English;
Flexibility for work travel: 1-2 times annually to China HQ, and 1 week per month to factory site. Rest of the time to work from office based in Jakarta.
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)
Working experience at multinational companies or leading law firms
Study abroad experience
Proactive with the ability to manage priorities, be organized, methodical, and perform well under high pressure and tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken or written) in order to communicate with Chinese counterparts at times.
