About Our Client
Our client is a prominent, well-established local securities firm with a strong footprint in Singapore’s financial services sector. Known for their agile environment and deep local roots, they offer a comprehensive suite of services including retail and institutional equities trading, wealth management, and corporate finance advisory. They are currently seeking a high-caliber Legal Counsel to join their lean and collaborative legal team.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the firm's business interests while enabling growth. This is a broad, hands-on corporate commercial and regulatory role where you will advise on a diverse range of capital markets activities and operational matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide spectrum of legal documents, including client onboarding agreements, brokerage agreements, distribution agreements, vendor contracts, and non-disclosure agreements.
- Provide timely and practical legal advice to business units (Equities, Wealth Management, Corporate Finance) on day-to-day operational issues, transaction structures, and new product launches.
- Partner closely with the Compliance team to ensure operational policies, procedures, and business practices align with statutory requirements
- Manage corporate secretarial matters and handle external counsel effectively when specialized litigation or cross-border advice is required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized university; admitted to the Singapore Bar.
- 3 to 4 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) gained either within a reputable law firm’s capital markets/corporate practice or in-house at a financial institution (securities house, fund manager, or bank).
- Commercial acumen with the ability to provide pragmatic, solution-oriented advice to business stakeholders under tight timelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the maturity to work independently as well as part of a lean team.
