About the Role
This is much more than a typical legal counsel position. You’ll be part of a high-performing team that operates at the intersection of commercial enterprise and sustainability. From providing strategic legal advice to drafting major contracts for renewable energy projects, you’ll be a key player in delivering Australia's energy transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver strategic, commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across renewable energy development, retail, and corporate operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements, including:
- Lease agreements and property-related contracts.
- Construction contracts, power purchase agreements (PPAs), O&M agreements
- Keep the business ahead by preparing regulatory updates on the renewable energy sector and performing legal research.
- Manage essential legal documentation tied to landholdings, such as easements, mortgages, and caveats.
- Support FIRB compliance efforts and handle applications.
- Advise and manage disputes and litigation.
- Build relationships with key regulators, government bodies, and industry stakeholders.
- Lead training sessions for staff on applicable laws, covering areas like competition law, energy regulations, and contracts.
Qualifications:
- Admitted Lawyer in Victoria with 4 to 8 years PQE
- Hands-on energy sector expertise.
- Strong commercial law background; experience in construction or property law is a bonus.
