Engagement Type: Part-time Legal Consultant (Approx. 3 hours/week)
Duration: Initial commitment of 4 months (extendable based on requirements)

Experience: 8–10+ years PQE preferred
Role Overview
We are seeking an India-qualified legal professional to provide on-demand legal advisory support across a range of corporate, employment, intellectual property, and data privacy matters. The consultant will support the business by providing practical legal guidance, reviewing documentation, conducting legal research, and advising on compliance obligations under applicable Indian laws.
Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate & Governance Advisory
Provide legal advice and support on matters relating to:
Companies Act, 2013 and associated rules
Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 and related regulations
Corporate governance and compliance requirements
Board and shareholder matters
Director duties, appointments, resignations, and governance obligations
Corporate restructuring and entity management queries
Review and interpretation of constitutional documents, resolutions, and governance records
Legal research and advisory on general corporate law issues
2. Employment & Labour Law Advisory
Advise on employment-related legal matters including:
Labour Codes and applicable labour law framework
State-specific Shops and Establishments Acts
Employment contracts, offer letters, and HR policies
Employee onboarding and offboarding requirements
Working hours, leave, wages, benefits, and statutory compliance
Employee disciplinary processes and terminations
Independent contractor and consultant engagements
Workplace investigations and employee grievance matters
Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act compliance and related advisory
Employment-related compliance and risk assessments
3. Intellectual Property Support
Provide support on:
Copyright, trademark, and intellectual property ownership issues
IP provisions in commercial and employment agreements
Assignment and licensing arrangements
Protection of proprietary information and confidential business assets
Review of IP-related clauses and documentation
4. Data Privacy & AI Regulatory Advisory
Advise on:
Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act)
Privacy notices, consent mechanisms, and data governance requirements
Cross-border data transfer considerations
Vendor and processor-related privacy obligations
Data processing and information security contractual provisions
Emerging AI governance and regulatory developments relevant to India
AI-related contractual, compliance, and risk management issues
General privacy and technology law queries
5. Regulatory & General Legal Support
As required:
Conduct legal research on regulatory developments impacting the business
Provide practical legal opinions and issue-based advice
Review and comment on legal documents and policies
Identify legal and compliance risks and recommend mitigation measures
Support ad hoc legal queries from internal stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Qualified lawyer enrolled with a State Bar Council in India
Strong experience advising on Indian corporate and employment laws
Working knowledge of Indian data privacy laws, including the DPDP Act
Familiarity with intellectual property laws and commercial contracting
Ability to provide concise, practical, and business-oriented legal advice
Excellent legal research, drafting, and communication skills
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting multinational organizations, technology companies, consulting firms, or in-house legal teams
Exposure to privacy, AI governance, and emerging technology regulation
Experience advising on cross-border legal and compliance matters
Time Commitment
Approximately 3 hours per week
Flexible engagement model
Initial term of 4 months with possibility of extension
