For our client a leading provider of heavy-duty commercial trucks, service networks, and transport solutions, we are looking for an experienced Legal & Compliance Counsel to provide strategic legal and compliance support across Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal advice and support across the business activities in the Southeast market;
  • Monitoring and interpreting regulatory developments related to insurance distribution, leasing and financial services;
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining internal compliance policies and procedures;
  • Overseeing and coordinating external legal counsel and law firms;
  • Conducting compliance audits and legal/regulatory risk assessments;
  • Supporting regulatory filings related to financial services and insurance distribution;
  • Providing training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Reviewing and negotiating key agreements with customers, partners and vendors;
  • Handling regulatory inquiries, inspections and audits and representing the company in interactions with authorities;
  • Supporting compliance with AML, data protection, DORA, NIS2 and other relevant regulatory requirements;
  • Supporting local teams in implementing Group and Financial Services directives, guidelines and policies;
  • Acting as a strategic legal and compliance partner for senior management and business stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Master’s Degree in Law;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an in-house legal counsel;
  • Experience in financial services, leasing and/or insurance distribution;
  • Strong knowledge of insurance distribution and financial services regulations;
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, contracts and legal risk management;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities;
  • High level of independence, ownership and organisation;
  • Fluent English; knowledge of regional languages is a plus;
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
