Position Summary:

We are seeking a  Legal & Compliance Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research, excellent writing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring our initiatives remain compliant and protected as we expand our global reach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Research: Conduct research on non-profit regulations, liability, and employment law to ensure organization-wide compliance.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks in new initiatives (like 'Street Care') and propose proactive solutions to mitigate them.
  • Governance: Assist in maintaining and updating organizational bylaws and ensuring adherence to 501(c)(3) requirements.
  • Intellectual Property: Support the protection of our trademarks and copyrighted materials across our global outreach platforms.
  • Policy Development: Help draft internal policies that reflect our commitment to ethics, diversity, and community safety.
  • Reporting: Regularly review legal announcements and regulatory changes, notifying relevant staff of potential impacts to the organization.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to translate legal concepts into informative guidance.
  • Proficiency in legal research methods to identify regulatory requirements and gather data.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple compliance tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of 501(c)(3) governance and non-profit financial principles.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property protection and internal policy drafting.
