Full Job Description
Cox PLLC is seeking candidates with paralegal experience in insurance defense. This candidate must know how to transcribe from dictation software, be able to assist with other administrative tasks, including billing.
Candidate must possess knowledge of working a case from start to finish, conducting legal research, e-filing in state and federal court, calendaring case related events, and drafting motions and other court related documents. The candidate must bill 60 hours of legal work on cases each month.
Responsibilities
Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
Order records
Transcribe dictation by attorney using software program
Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court
Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.)
Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
Provide assistance with case settlements
Skills
Proven working experience as a litigation paralegal in insurance defense
Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
Transcribing dictation
Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, TEAMS, Word, Powerpoint
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 – $68,000.00 per year
